Have questions about your spinning technique? Need help spinning Llama or Alpaca Fiber? Declared an American Master in 1999, spinner and weaver Norman Kennedy is coming to Henderson to help.
Norman Kennedy, Scottish born, spinner, weaver and folklorist now resides in Vermont. Kennedy founded the Marshfield School of Weaving where the tradition of hand weaving and spinning is taught. Norman served as director of weaving at Colonial Williamsburg inthe 1960's. In 2004 Norman recieved the prestigious National Heritage Fellowship awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts in the United States.
During the Clinic, Norman will share his knowledge of lives and traditions of Scottish spinners and weavers. As a special favor to us, Norman will also focus his students attention to the use of Llama fiber in traditional techniques.
The Clinic is $150.00 for the two days. The fee includes two catered lunches. Deadline to register and pay the $50.00 deposit is February 5, 2008. The supply list and map to the Depot Museum, local hotels in Henderson and other pertinent information will be sent after the deposit is received.
